Amsterdam Fashionweek is not your typical haute couture gathering with Lily-Rose Depp modelling or KimYe glaring from front-row. It’s not bathing in the glam of big couture shows like in Paris or the top-notch freshness from Copenhagen. Yet, it has it’s own special and unique charm which makes it an event worth visiting.
Fashionweek equals the spirit and culture of a city and that’s the main reason why I love to sneak into the kitchen of what’s cooking in the land of pins and needles. Fashion is an expression of a culture, of what’s happening in a specific scene. MBFA is an extract from the current upcoming designers which are about to step into the big world.
The Amsterdam spirit is pretty down-to-earth cool and open-minded. On top of that, it’s influenced by a diversity of cultures and stories throughout. I feel like this perfectly reflects in the shows you see at MBAFW. While the snow storm is colouring New York Fashionweek, I would love to reflect on the shows I attended a couple of weeks ago in Amsterdam. (Thanks to the lovely organisation & Schoondenboer PR!)
Here’s a little gallery of my most loved collections, representing the dreams of upcoming talent in a nutshell.
