SCANDINAVIAN EMBASSY

Amsterdam is doing an amazing job when it comes to authenticity. Young people keep on coming up with new concepts, original themes, markets and bars. Sometimes they do not even have to be brand-new to excel in their authenticity. One of those fresh and fantastic places-to-be is Scandinavian Embassy, your wet Scandinavian dream with fika, food, fashion and the best coffee of Europe, no kidding.

The minimal bar, right across Sarphatipark, launched it’s Northern delights in Amsterdam in October 2013. It’s is amazing how discrete and modest the Scandinavians are, because the barista is Nicolas Castagno, is the 2013 Brewers Cup Champion of Sweden. Indeed, they serve coffee which is an absolute dream for those who love a good cup of filtered delight.

Don’t expect soy lattes and other sweet drinks with syrups and creams, that are not really worthy of the label ‘coffee’. No, like any other authentic product, their coffee remains pure and therefore of utmost quality. You can obviously add a dash of milk, but nothing that takes away the pure taste of beans and nutty flavours. Did I mention they even have coconut blossom sugar to add if you do prefer a touch of sweetness?

Apart from that you can also choose from a cup of fresh ginger tea or mint tea. And for the non-vegan peeps with a love for healthy Northern cuisine, there is a menu ranging from buckwheat porridge to cinnamon buns, rye bread and homemade seasonal vegetable soup. Jag älskar dig Scandinavian Embassy!

The interior is super clean, white and cosy at the same time. All the staff is Scandinavian and even the bathroom is typical. There is one universal bathroom designed in a wooden chalet kind of room. How authentic can you get?

Well, the whole experience is definitely  a Scandinavian one and therefore the name is really well chosen.Want to take some souvenirs with you? That’s possible! They sell beans from Kaffa, The Coffee Collective and Drop Coffee. The real bean connaisseurs probably know that this is the absolute excellence in coffee world.

So, now you know where to go when in Amsterdam, when in search of coffee paradise! Have a walk in Sarphatipark and after that, enjoy the Scandinavian wonderland of coffee, tea, food and a chilled atmosphere.
